Artist Lourdes Villagómez loves the colorful sugar skulls exchanged across Mexico during Day of the Dead celebrations and wanted to create a piece of cast iron art honoring the tradition. The seasoning on this pan is already flawless out of the box—my first batch of cornbread slid right out without a single stuck crumb. It's heavy enough to feel like a real workhorse, but the skull artwork makes it a conversation piece I actually leave on the stovetop when it's not in use.
The sugar skull design is so much more detailed in person than the photos show, and the skillet itself is genuinely heavy and well-made. I love that it's both functional cookware and a piece of art I can leave out on the stove.
